I rule! Today I kicked serious ass on the treadmill (I know, what am I saying? I hate treadmills!!) But after the saddest running display ever last Saturday at the Coney Island 5 miler, I needed something foolproof and easy. You know what’s not easy? Running in 100+ degree weather. That’s not easy. So I went and blasted 40 minutes and 4 miles on the treadmill and it felt great. After this mini morale booster, I came home craving this chocolate concoction. This is great if you need calories fast after a work out – it’s quite filling and tastes like you got it at Shake Shack and packs about 30 grams of protein! My gym era has begun – Enjoy!

Chocolate Almond Butter Protein Smoothie
I quite like the Whole Foods brand chocolate protein powder, but I used CyloSport here. Whatever you like is totally fine. Active Time: 5 minutes, Serves 1.
1 medium banana, preferably pre-frozen
2 tablespoons almond butter
1 scoop (or 1/4 cup) of your favorite chocolate protein powder
1/2 cup almond milk
5 ice cubes
Combine all ingredients in a blender or the receptacle of an immersion blender and blend together well. Serve immediately.
